The Flyers opened up the scoring early, jumping out to a 1-0 lead on a goal scored by Brayden Schenn. Nashville tied the game at one after a failed defensive zone clear by the Flyers, something that always seems to come back and haunt them. After a tripping penalty on Giroux and a boarding call on Timonen, the Flyers were killing off a 5-3. A beautiful pad save by Steve Mason was followed by a failed clear and a goal by David Legwand just seconds after the first penalty expired.

3rd Period Summary:

Shea Weber got the Predators out in front 3-2 as he tallied a blast from the blue line on the first of a double-minor high-sticking penalty. The only scoring in the period after that occurred on the power play as Wayne Simmonds finished off a double deflection in front, tying up the game with 1:24 left in the game. The Flyers power play came through after multiple failed opportunities throughout the game. The game went into overtime which, after five minutes, still was not enough. In the shootout, Roman Josi scored the eventual game winner.
